Eleanor A. M. Culver – Personal Biography
In May 2009, Eleanor founded REAL HR, a company responsible for assisting small to midsized businesses with realizing their business goals through the development of sound human resources processes, procedures and policies
REAL HR provides specific project-based work, facilitation, and on-going advisory support relating to all aspects of human resources management including: staffing, employee relations, benefits, compensation, employee development, organizational development, government compliance, internal and external communication, performance management, human resources strategy, leadership development and board governance. REAL HR’s clients include companies in oil and gas, retail, health and the not-for-profit sector. Combining over 25 years’ Human Resources experience with her sense of humour and pragmatic approach, Eleanor provides clients with practical HR solutions to their business challenges.
A life-long career HR Professional, Eleanor has a reputation for her pragmatic HR approach; one in which the HR Practitioner is a partner in the business and a provider of real solutions to operational issues. Prior to the founding of REAL HR, Ms. Culver was:
- Vice-President, Human Resources & Administration, Century Oilfield Services: 2006-2009
- HR Manager Canada Region, Halliburton Energy Services: 2004-2006
- Director, HR, Calgary Flames Ltd.: 1997-2004
- HR Advisor, Alberta Energy Company (now EnCana and Cenovus): 1990-1997

Kathy Carville – Personal Biography
In April 2016, Kathy joined REAL HR as a Human Resources Catalyst. She is recognised for building trust and connected relationships with internal and external customers. With over 16 years of Human Resources experience, her HR expertise includes staffing, employee relations, compensation & benefits, succession management, training & development and mergers & acquisitions.
She provided 26 years of service to a global oil and gas services company through several merger and acquisition career transitions.

Kathy was born and raised in Fredericton, New Brunswick. After graduating from Fredericton High School, she left the Maritimes and headed for Toronto where she worked for Nesbitt Thomson. With Nesbitt Thomson, she held positions in Research, in Syndication and in the Capital Markets groups.
In 2006, Kathy graduated from Mount Royal University, Calgary with a Business Administration, Human Resources Certificate.
Kathy volunteers time and items for organisations that include: Calgary Food Bank, Brown Bagging for Calgary Kids, Secret Santa Program for Seniors, Canadian Cancer Society Daffodil Program and the Louise Dean book programme.
Amanda Paterson – Personal Biography
Amanda and Eleanor met in Lake Louise and shared a passion for pragmatic HR solutions to improve operational efficiencies. Amanda widens the scope of REAL HR’s offering to clients as she brings a creative and energetic approach to all aspects of the human resources functions we provide to our clients. Before Amanda’s arrival on the REAL HR team in 2018, she held the following positions:
- HR Generalist, Lake Louise Ski Resort, from 2013 to 2016
- HR Generalist, People Services, AECOM, from 2016 to 2017
- HR Officer, Mitsubishi, from 2017 to 2018
Over the course of her career thus far, Amanda has accumulated an abundance of experience and knowledge in high volume recruitment, training and development, employee relations and policy development. In addition, she has worked on significant projects involving customised HRIS development and policy review.
Amanda has is focused on developing her career. She has an avid interest around why people choose to do the work they do, how she can support businesses to achieve their strategic goals by bringing out the best in their people, and partners with leaders to create work environments where people are recognised and valued.
Amanda holds a Bachelor of Communications in Public Relations and Organisational Communications from the University of Queensland. Amanda will be writing her exams to obtain her Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CHRP) designation in the fall of 2018.
