New Years Resolution: Organisation!

Well, folks, here we go again! Another year rolling in, brimming with opportunities and adventures waiting to be seized. As we bid farewell to the past and dive headfirst into 2024, it’s time to set our sights on new goals and aspirations.

Personally, my resolution for this year is to level up my organisation game, especially when it comes to tackling the inbox chaos. Let’s face it, emails have a way of multiplying faster than rabbits on a spring morning! Despite my best efforts, by mid-February, my inbox resembled a wild jungle, and I know I’m not alone in this struggle.

But fear not! There’s hope on the horizon. Instead of resorting to a scorched-earth, delete-all approach, let’s take a more strategic stance on email management in 2024. Here are a few golden nuggets of wisdom to keep our inboxes trim and tidy:

  1. Give each email its due attention. Read it, ponder over it, and then decide its fate—delete or file away. Remember, if someone took the time to send it, it deserves a moment of your time to read it through.

  2. If you find yourself drowning in unnecessary CCs, don’t hesitate to speak up. Politely ask the sender to exclude you from future mass-email chains if your presence isn’t vital. Let’s reclaim our inboxes from the clutches of CC madness!

  3. Don’t be shy about asking for clarity or the right materials. If you receive something that’s as helpful as a screen door on a submarine, kindly request the correct documents. Clear communication saves time and prevents email ping-pong matches.

  4. And last but not least, when you request a report or document, give it the attention it deserves. Remember, behind every file is someone’s hard work. Don’t leave it hanging in the digital abyss—read it and acknowledge the effort put into it.

For a good laugh (and some startlingly accurate office humour), I highly recommend checking out Tripp & Tyler’s “Email in Real Life.” Here’s to conquering the inbox beast and reclaiming our email sanity in 2024! Happy emailing, everyone!
